I began LAVA last year because I saw a void that needed filled. There are many regional authors & publishers associations, as well as associations for “independent” publishers, “small” publishers, religious & ethnic publishers and associations for authors of different genres (fiction, science fiction, poetry, mystery, horror, etc.). There is a growing number of authors that identify as libertarian, agorist, voluntaryist and/or anarch, yet there was not an authors/publishers association for these writers.
Since its creation, the organization has grown from an idea to an association of several authors and editors and held a book awards competition. In the future, I hope LAVA will grow to an association with one hundred members or more. However, I can no longer grow this organization. It is for this reason, that I will be stepping down as Executive Director of LAVA. LAVA will continue to function s an authors & publishers association in the very capable hands of author and editor Leslie Starr O'Hara.
Starr O'Hara will take over as Executive Director on August 15, 2011.
